The Old Dominion University VMASC Center presented our SPS Project Lead The Way students in Biomedical Sciences and Engineering with certificates for completing their capstone project.

The College and Career Academy (CCAP) Culinary Arts students hosted a Food Truck event to showcase their skills and talents in creating delicious cuisines!

Air Force ROTC cadets at Lakeland High School have been afforded a unique opportunity to fly with the Civil Air Patrol, giving them hands-on learning experiences to gain valuable insights into aviation!

We thank our students, families, and community for another year of a successful Champions Together Unified Track & Field event. Thank you to Mr. James Gunther and his team for their fantastic work expanding the Special Olympics in SPS!

Dominion Energy and King's Fork High School partnered together for a “Solarbration" ceremony! KFHS now has solar panels that will provide clean energy to the building. A special thank you to Dr. Katelyn Leitner and Mr. John Littlefield for their work on this project.

Lakeland High School AFJROTC students collected more than 4,000 canned goods during a food drive over a two-week period, and built a food-pyramid over 10 ft. tall!

Florence Bowser Elementary School unveiled its purple star banner.

April is the Month of the Military Child. SPS celebrates Jade Pagan Abreu, a Senior at NRHS named Naval Station Norfolk's 2024 Youth of the Year. Ms. Abreu won the state championship and now represents Virginia in the regional Military Youth of the Year competition.

With the help of students in the Nansemond River High School Project Lead the Way Engineering program, The Suffolk Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated donated three "Tiny Libraries" to BTWES, EFES and MBJES to help literacy efforts in SPS.

The Student Council Association (SCA) at Kilby Shores Elementary School is active in giving back to their community. This year, the students sponsored a fundraiser to raise money for the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters Education Department.

The NRHS DECA Chapter was highlighted in the Suffolk News-Herald for earning the Report Blue Chip Award at the Virginia DECA State Leadership Conference.
